Stéphanie Childress began her early musical career as a violinist. Now in her early twenties, she is making her mark as a conductor. Her remarkable musicianship and command of a broad scope of repertoire has led to engagements with symphony orchestras, contemporary chamber groups and opera houses.
Establishing herself in both symphonic repertoire and opera, Stéphanie will join Villa San Francisco’s residency in June 2022 while conducting a collaboration with the SF Symphony.
In the 2021/22 season she will continue in her post as Assistant Conductor of the St Louis Symphony Orchestra and Music Director of the St Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra. Following her success taking 2nd prize at the inaugural conducting competition, La Maestra, she has a number of engagements with orchestras in France, including l’Orchestre de Paris, Paris Mozart Orchestra, Orchestre de Chambre de Paris, Opera et Orchestre National de Montpellier and Mulhouse Symphony Orchestra. Elsewhere she will join the Barcelona Symphony Orchestra, North Carolina Symphony and Dohnanyi Orchestra Budapest.
